和太鼓

和太鼓グループ「天鼓 -TENKO-」は、家族ユニットとしてシンガポールで発足しました。その後、太鼓のリズムに魅せられたメンバーが加わり、活動の場を広げていきました。メンバーの国籍や年齢は様々ですが、一緒に和太鼓のリズムを楽しんでいます。

様々な地域に伝わるお祭りなどの「伝承曲」から「創作曲」、そして太鼓のみの曲だけでなく、チャンチきや篠笛、三味線など様々な楽器も加わった曲も演奏しています。和太鼓だけでなく、「獅子舞」「おかめ」「ひょっとこ」などの神楽やお囃子も紹介しています。

「アジア・チルドレン・フェスティバル（国立図書館）」や「Heritage Festival(National Heritage Board)」などの文化的なイベントで「日本の伝統文化としての和太鼓」を紹介するだけでなく、様々なイベントのオープニングでの演奏などもしています。そして、「和太鼓の演奏は耳で聴くだけでなく、体を全身で楽しむ！」を合言葉に、演奏活動だけでなく、学校などでワークショップを行い、和太鼓ファンを増やす活動にも力を入れています。

What is the Koto and Shamisen?

The Koto is a traditional Japanese stringed musical instrument, similar to the Chinese zheng. It has 13 strings that are strung over 13 movable bridges along the width of the instrument. Players can adjust the string pitches by moving the white bridges in the picture before playing, and use three finger picks (on thumb, index finger, and middle finger) to pluck the strings, otherwise known as plectra. A Shamisen is a three-stringed, Japanese musical instrument also played with a plectrum called a bachi.
